Green Reds & Whites

Have you given any thought to how green your glass of Valentines’ Day wine will be?  Here are some items to factor in.

On the label look for official government validation or “organic” certification, which means organic grapes and no sulfites used in production.  Anything close, such as “organically grown grapes” isn’t.  Try to find sustainable wineries or biodynamic growers who go a step further in land management.  Beyond the wine itself, pay attention to the efficient packaging and buy local if possible, to reduce the carbon impact of your purchase.  You can find out more at Planet Green here.  Cheers!!!
