Extreme Eco-Tourism

Some people aren’t happy unless they’re taking it to the limit -- even as it applies to green behavior.  If this describes you and you’re making vacation plans, you’ve come to the right place.  Here are a handful of ways you can push the envelope when it comes to green travel.

1.  Go Carbon Neutral on your flight.  Find out how much fuel your flight consumed, contact a company with carbon neutral programs here and make a donation.

2.  Stay at a green hotel with recycling and energy conservation programs.  Reuse towels and bedding.  Use your own toiletries and coffee cup instead of prepackaged alternatives.

3.  Travel in the most environmentally friendly way possible.  Walking instead of busing, trains instead of cars.

4.  Consider a Volunteer Vacation.  Combine charitable acts with an exotic destination.  Organizations like TransitionsAbroad can connect you with organizations that mirror your interests and welcome your help.
