Color Your Car Green

You’d like to trade that clunker in on a brand new hybrid that’s super enviro-friendly … or take the bus … or work out of your home.  But if you’re stuck with your current ride there are tangible ways to care for your vehicle to keep it operating as clean as it can be.

First, get on a regular maintenance schedule.  Simple management of oil, filters and the like can go a long way toward running the vehicle at optimum efficiency and cutting down on gasoline consumption.  Both will have a significant role in reducing emissions.  Also, monitor your mileage consumption patterns.  Logging and calculating MPGs can help alert you to potential operational problems before they get too bad and negatively affect your mileage and emissions.  Check and optimize your tire pressure once a month as well.  It’s the best way to help them play their proper role in running your vehicle at peak efficiency.  And here’s one final tip.  Use a gas cap and secure it tightly after every fill up.  That prevents gasoline evaporation and release of additional pollutants from your car.
